Tamim Iqbal has become first Bangladeshi player to score ICC World Twenty20 century.
The left handed batsman took 60 balls to hit ton against Oman in the
last group-A match of 2016 t20 world cup. He hit 5 sixes and 10 fours to
reach the land mark. It was a knockout match again Oman to make a place
in super-10 and the opener scored brilliant ton to lead side towards
big total of 180 runs in 20 overs.
With this blasting hundred, Tamim has become 7th batsman in world
cricket to reach at three figure mark in tournament’s history. Chris
Gayle, Suresh Raina, Mahela Jayawardene, Brendon McCullum, Alex Hales
and Ahmed Shehzad are the other centurions in world t20 championship
history. West Indies’ Gayle was the first to hit hundred in wt20 as he
made 117 against South Africa in 2007.
In this inning, Tamim Iqbal also reached to one more milestone as he
became first Bangladesh player to score 1000 runs in T20 internationals.
